Kachi Sadak FoundationRoad to the Roots · Growth & scaling trajectory
From community practice to system-wide transformation

Grow through systems.
Deepen the roots.

For more than a decade, Kachi Sadak Foundation has worked alongside children, families, educators and public systems to build learning environments that respond to children’s lives—not only their grade levels.

Our next phase is not growth for its own sake. It is about deepening community-rooted models, extending effective approaches through public systems, and strengthening the institution that sustains both.

Our approach

Think. Act. Care.

Our Theory of Change connects the learner we envision with personalised learning, community partnership and pathways to opportunity.

KSF Theory of Change: Think, Act, Care, the learner we envision, three strategic bets, and personal agency linked to collective change

Think · pause, notice and reflect. Act · make thoughtful choices. Care · respond with empathy and contribute to collective wellbeing.

Our starting point

Built by listening. Strengthened by evidence.

Impact figures reflect KSF’s supplied award and organisational materials; programme periods and counting methods may differ.

“Our pursuit of sustainable social change remains incomplete unless children and communities find their voices, their dignity, and their identities.”Kachi Sadak Foundation · From Community Practice to System-Wide Transformation

What the journey has taught us

Foundational learning gaps cannot be solved by classroom inputs alone. Children need responsive learning pathways, trusted relationships and a community that sees itself as a partner in education. Over time, practice developed in community spaces informed programmes across government schools and Anganwadis.

From one learning space to an ecosystem

KSF’s work spans early childhood, foundational learning, middle-school readiness, educator development and community-led learning. The next stage is to make these approaches stronger, more connected and more sustainable.

A lived ecosystem

People are the proof of change

Learning, confidence and belonging are the foundations beneath every scale metric.

Children learning together in a community circle
Community learning spaces connect school, home and neighbourhood.
Community educator supporting a learner
Learning shaped around the child.
Young people building a community circle
From participation to shared ownership.
The KSF model

Community first.
Systems that learn.

Community-rooted models are central to KSF’s approach. The Aangan Community Labs and The Aangan Community Labs School deepen learning, agency and local leadership; Pehle Kadam and Kilkaari strengthen early childhood practice through Anganwadi systems.

Educators collaborating in a learning workshop
The work grows when educators, families and children become co-creators.
Where this comes alive

Community-rooted interventions first

The Aangan Community Labs

Trusted neighbourhood spaces for child-responsive learning, social-emotional development, expressive arts, youth leadership, mentorship and family participation. Children and communities help shape the learning journey.

The Aangan Community Labs School

A community-rooted learning model that connects everyday learning with agency, relationships and real-world problem-solving—bridging the classroom, home and neighbourhood.

System-facing programmes

Strengthening early childhood systems

Pehle Kadam

Strengthen school readiness and early learning through responsive practice in Anganwadi settings.

Kilkaari

Strengthen early childhood care and education in pre-primary schools through educator capability and developmentally appropriate learning.

Paathshala

Strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy through responsive, level-based learning in government schools.

The 2030 horizon

Grow reach.
Grow local leadership.

KSF’s ambition is to build a stronger learning ecosystem around every child: extending reach through public systems, deepening change through community-rooted models, and strengthening the organisation to sustain both.

The targets below are taken from KSF’s supplied scaling trajectory. They are ambitions, not guarantees; progress depends on programme quality, partnerships, people and sustainable funding.

The philosophy behind the 2030 horizon

Think. Act. Care.

Not just what children learn, but how they understand themselves, relate to others and contribute to their communities.

Four enablers

How the philosophy becomes practice

Together, these enablers shape practice across community spaces, schools and early childhood settings.

  • Build diversified, long-term support for the mission
The partnership opportunity

Invest in the capacity behind the impact.

KSF’s next phase requires more than programme grants. It requires the people, systems, evidence and partnerships that help proven community-rooted approaches remain effective as they reach further.

Where catalytic support can help

  • Leadership development and critical team capacity
  • MEL, data infrastructure and learning-quality systems
  • Programme design, documentation and replication
  • Community youth leadership and family engagement
  • Flexible, multi-year support for institutional resilience

Planning note: “Current” values and 2030 targets are transcribed from the KSF Scaling, Depth & Growth Trajectory document. Some programme and impact figures in the award submission refer to different reporting periods and scopes; confirm the preferred reporting cut-off before external publication. Progress-bar fills are visual comparisons of current versus target where a current baseline is supplied, not forecasts.
