Stories from the Ground

Reimagining Anganwadis

Anganwadis are the foundation of early learning. Through the Pehle Kadam Program, Kachi Sadak Foundation launched its first Model Anganwadi in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh.

  • Indoor

The indoor spaces include four themed rooms—Jungle, Desert, Under Sea, and Snow—to spark children’s curiosity about how landscapes affect costumes, lifestyles, and local wildlife.

  • Outdoor

Not all classrooms have walls and roofs—learning can occur with nature. The outdoor space includes Yoga & Nature Zones, Buddy Zone, Maths & Science Zone, Butterfly Park, Kitchen Garden, Clay & Art Zones, and Chaupal Station.

  • Corridor

The corridor creates a welcoming environment that makes children feel safe and excited, channels their energy and curiosity, making them eager to come to the center daily.

We are excited to share this transformative journey!

Capacity building of Anganwadi Teachers

Empowering Anganwadi Workers through capacity-building sessions conducted by the Kachi Sadak Team as Resource Trainers in Chandigarh.

  • Focused Sessions

Sessions on "Domains of Development in Early Years & related Activities in Anganwadi Centers for ECCE" and "Designing of Child-Friendly Learning Environment with various Teaching Aids & TLMs."

  • Massive Impact

Covered 9 batches, training 500+ Anganwadi workers, focusing on storytelling techniques, interactive activities, and re-imagining classroom environments.

  • Hands-on Engagement

Participants actively explored cognitive, physical, creative, and socio-emotional growth activities while immersing themselves in the learning needs of 3-6-year-old children.

One Season, 1000 Trees

With your support we have successfully accomplished our goal of 'One Season, 1000 Trees' by concluding the recent tree plantation drive at Pandwala Village, Punjab.

  • 1060 Native Saplings Planted

Species include Amla, Gulmohar, Arjun, Amaltas, Jamun, and Mango.

  • Community Impact

Covered 3 government schools and 3 villages in Punjab.

  • Collaborative Effort

Over 20 volunteers, 50 students, and 100 local panchayat workers participated.

With the goal achieved, our focus now shifts to monitoring sapling health through collaboration with local panchayats under our 'Parikshan' initiative, ensuring a greener tomorrow.

Nurturing Environmental Awareness

Empowering students to connect with and act on environmental concerns through knowledge-driven activities and environmental theme projects so that the upcoming generations do not loose sight of environmental concerns & importance of ecology.

  • Hands-On Learning

Students participated in practical activities such as creating eco-friendly solutions, recycling projects, and small-scale gardens to understand the impact of everyday actions on the environment.

  • Creative Expressions

The children showcased their understanding through artwork, skits, and storytelling, creatively illustrating the balance between nature and human life, and the importance of preserving ecosystems.

  • Community Engagement

The program encouraged students to involve their families and communities in discussions on environmental practices, fostering a broader sense of shared responsibility for the planet.

Education Movement for Brick Klin Communities

In collaboration with Arpan Trust, we, through the Three-Day Paathshala Training Program successfully trained field coordinators of Neev ki Eent Foundation, impacting over 3,000 children from 92 brick kilns in Sasaram, Bihar.

  • Holistic Training Approach

The training focused on the four pillars of the Paathshala program: Baatcheet, Khelkood, Abhyaas, and Chalaang.

  • Innovative Teaching Materials

Participants crafted Teacher Learning Materials (TLMs) from raw items, fostering creativity and innovation in education, with teams presenting their work on the final day of training.

  • Collaborative Effort

This program was a result of strong collaboration between Arpan Trust, Neev ki Eent Foundation, District Education Officer (DEO), Sasaram, Bihar and our dedicated trainers.

Building Foundation Literacy and Numeracy Capabilities

Kachi Sadak Foundation’s Paathshala Program has expanded its scope to 112 schools in Chandigarh. Baseline assessment gives every child an opportunity to share their learning capability through various modes including Visual, Written, Oral and Cognitive evaluation.

  • Learning Level Identification

Identifying a child’s true learning need as per their existing learning level instead of age based assumption.

  • 3rd Party Assessment

3rd party assessment for efficient assessment exercise for accurate and fair comprehension that lays the initial foundation for customized and need based FLN intervention.

  • Connecting ‘Future Teachers’ to FLN Movement

Collaboration with local B.Ed colleges to engage, enable and groom students with FLN intervention where they not only learn the challenges but become a part of the solution.
